Letting Go of Pressure: A Mindset Shift Toward Presence and Self-Permission
I had planned to launch my new website and courses last Friday...
The Inner Work of Slowing Down
A Gentle Reminder From an Unfinished Book
Drop me a comment, or send a message - I always love hearing your stories.
But I didn’t.
Old me might’ve panicked or pushed through. The pressure to meet my own self-imposed deadline would’ve overridden my inner sense of timing. But this time, something felt different. Instead of pushing, I paused.
I closed my eyes, tuned in, and asked myself honestly:
"Do I really have to launch it right now?"
No.
I could take the pressure off.
I could give myself permission to move at the pace of presence.
I could trust myself.
It wasn’t that I was procrastinating or avoiding—it was that I wanted to be intentional. To give space for clarity and care, not just completion.
So I launched on Tuesday instead.
That small shift—just a few days—made all the difference. I felt calm. Present. Aligned. No frantic rushing or regret. And yes, there are still parts that aren't finished. But life is never finished. Business is never truly “done.” And we, too, are always works in progress.
This moment reminded me of something else that’s been “in progress”: a book I began co-authoring with a dear friend. It's about coming home to yourself—the idea that all the answers we're searching for out there have always lived within.
It’s not finished either. But maybe that’s the point.
Sometimes the most powerful lessons aren’t about hitting the deadline or crossing the finish line. They're about listening, trusting, and allowing space for the unfolding.
We often carry the belief that success has to look a certain way: polished, on time, tied in a bow. But what if real success is giving ourselves permission—to rest, to trust, to delay, to listen?
What if we gave ourselves the grace to do it differently?
Letting go of pressure isn’t weakness. It’s strength. It’s the quiet power of aligning with your own rhythm, not someone else's timeline.
If you’ve been carrying the weight of “shoulds” or trying to force something to be done by a deadline that no longer feels right—pause. Breathe. Ask yourself:
“What would happen if I gave myself permission to wait?”
You might just find that the space you create becomes the birthplace of something more aligned, more easeful, more you.
I’d love to hear:
When have you given yourself permission to slow down, and what happened when you did?
